A steel cable connects the brake pedal of the towed vehicle to the TANDEM device, which is fixed by means of safety pins to the towed vehicle's tow bar attachments.
When the towing vehicle stops or slows down, the pressure to the lever on the braking system applies a proportional pull on the cable fixed to the brake pedal of the towed vehicle and the brakes apply as needed.
When the two get closer to each other as it happens going downhill, brakes are automatically applied without causing any premature wear.

Install the TANDEM brake at the front of vehicle in the tow fixtures insert the two safety pins. Remove the cable from its storage sleeve and insert it into the tube which is fixed to the brake, then attach the end of the cable (the end part fitted with the brass terminal-- 0072) into the mobile part of the brake (the one that activates the brake. Attach the steel cable to the brake pedal of the towed vehicle.
You need to press on it in order to attach it part 0070. Make sure that the steering wheel of the towed vehicle is unlocked and that the gear level is in neutral.
Maintenance The end-user need to ensure that the TANDEM brake is properly maintained before each use. It is sufficient to grease the cam lever and to lubricate the arm of the cylinder ( see drawing C ).Important notice; before leaving with your vehicle press at least 4 times on the brake pedal of the towed vehicle in order to deactivate the power brake and make sure that the lights are off.

T 5005
The T5005 model fits inside the towed vehicle. It is a compact system which weighs less than 8 pounds and is easy to handle. It works exclusively on electricity. As soon as the RV driver applies the brake an electric signal is transmitted to the T5005 which activates the brake of the towed vehicle.
This results in a gentle pressure on the brake pedal of the towed vehicle which leads to a smooth braking action. If the driver of the RV increases the braking this action is then transmitted to the T5005 which in turn applies greater pressure on the brake pedal.
The T5005 deactivates as soon as the pressure on the brake pedal of the RV is released. Should the two vehicles separate, the T5005 automatically engages thus bringing the towed vehicle to a full stop.The system is also equipped with a timer so as to deactivate the brake of the towed vehicle during long braking periods. As soon as the brake of the RV is released the T5005 is reactivated. Witering Diagram.
